I use Castrol transmax Z. It's automatic transmission oil, but don't be put off, T5's are designed for it. Other people may use other oils.

You could use Dex3, but you need to add a friction modifier, otherwise it can be difficult to shift.

With the transmax, no you don't have to add anything to it.

I use the Penrite oil for T5.
No additive required, it's already in there.

for a GOOD T5, I tend to run auto trans fluid, for a worn/noisy T5 I run 50/50 LIGHT manual gearbox oil and CHAINSAW BAR LUBE, yes, you read right, CHAINSAW BAR LUBE, seems to quieten them down, make them shift better and make them last longer I swear by it, others may disagree though.

I run Dex III with VMX80....80/20 mix....gives the oil some guts when it's hot.....cold shifting isn't a problem.

For the 6 cylinder T5 they use ATF.
The V8 one uses gear oil.
My V8 ute had ATF in it when I got it. Something dodgy on the ute? Who would of thought.

Where'd you get that info?
I've always known T5's to all use the same fluid.

Which factory manual?
The EF manual doesn't state any difference for lubrication.

The best I can find is that some, not all, non-WC T5's used gear oil.
Something to do with the synchros whether they're brass or fiber lined.
