Changing the clutch in the XH. Dropped gearbox thinking at the same time I would change the oil in the box. Now I am confused. REPCO advised 80/90 gear oil. Smells like gear oil etc. The oil I dropped out of it looks like trans fluid!!!!! Which f**k oil should it have?? I wouldve thought the gear oil was the go but I may be wrong.....help before I put the box back in...... 8-)

Most people run auto fuild. as its light and works well.

It'll love 80/90 gear oil but might baulk / shift hard.

My preference is to use 75w gear oil.
Why not go buy Penrite light gear oil?.

Even dexron3 from Kmart will get ya out of trouble.

yep 150ml Lubrizol 7906!

still got the leaking bottle on my desk!

I've changed to gear oil and haven't looked back.

However my next flush will be Castrol Transmax Z with no additive.

Finally found the ellerys. Recommends dexronII unless it is a sprint then it recommends 75/90. So I would imagine (and I have a wild imagination  ) the\at the 80/90 will be fine.

Thanks for the help fellas...

Transmax Z with some Lubrizol additive. I think it was lubrizol, or something of the sort.

I use an 80/20% mix of DexIII and VMX80 with Nulon gear oil additive, works good when cold or hot.
