hi all backa gain with another little annoyance

had the gearbox replaced inmy 90 model LTD
with a 4spd from an EL wnt pretty well but recently noticed it was slowing developing a issue where it would sit in 3rd gear up until today where it stayed that way al day

when the car is dead cold it changes no worries for the first few minutes and as the car warms up it goes into limp mode and stayes in 3rd even from a standing start

ive been told soleniods and or oil

i really cant afford to be ripped off since ive payed 800 to have a near new tranny fitted

any and all help advice would be most appreciated

cheers

well, if its going into limp home mode, what are the reasons a box does this?

it can be soleniods? low oil? or box overheating? anything else?

first thing to check would be the tans oil, as its from an EL no dipstick im guessing.. have to get under and undo a bolt and see how full it is, think thats the easiest thing to check first...

because it changes when its cold im leaning towards the box over heating.. so either low oil, or a transmission cooler could be a good idea :)

could be a fault in your gear selector switch.....if you plug it into a diagnostic machine it should tell you exactly where the problem is

sav,

$70 isn't too bad for a hook up fee, the only other way to get it cheaper would be to become friends with an auto-sparky.

If you were to spend that $70 you would be able to get all the fault codes (problems with the car), and if there are any, you could fix them before they become bigger issues.

$5000 for a diagnostics unit is a good cheap price, my sparky spent $8500 on one to get my car running.
