Hi, I am a new Ford owner. I have bought an automatic 1999 XR6 about one and half months ago. It needs a bit of work done on it such as headlights and electric window winders need replacing. About two weeks ago the gears would not change from second into third. I have not been driving it as i am not sure what the problem is. The dash gauges also stopped working completely at about the same time. They had been working intermittently when i bought it. Would the two problems be related?

Maybe the earths need rechecking ....and the battery needs to be checked and terminals ....and drop the tranny oil and flush it ...get rid off all the old oil in it ..including the torque converter ...flush it right out ..and replace with good quality stuff...and fill it to the required mark...flush the cooling lines and Rad ...auto sections as well ..get rid of old oil and make sure there no dredges in the pan ..give it a good service ...chances are its never been done right ....also throw some 4 in one oil in ...its brilliant on revamping auto ..hope that helps
