The rear brake caliper has that like frame peice that it bolts to and then that peice bolts to the axel/hub. Now the slider pin things, that the bolts for the caliper go into, that sit in this frame bit need to be greased (i'm reconditioning the calipers). PBR instructions say Silicone Greace, but I can't find any anywhere, I have some Loctite Silicone Spray, which must be a silicone based kubricant here which I use for the window sliders, is that ok? Or I have some Goss Dri Lube, but the packaging doesn't say what it's based or any ingrediants, any recomendations?

You need the correct grease , not good when they bind up.

i think i need to do mine aswell. my rear brakes squeak sometimes and i was told this could be the problem but didnt really understand wot the guy was saying when he was explaining it to me. would greasing mine fix it?

silicone spray and grease are 2 different things!
the grease is what u want get some hi temp bearing grease at is the same s**t

Yeah, came with satchel of red Kulbar (or something like that), but that was for putting on the 'outside diamter of the piston'. Didn't include anything for these pins, stingy PBR. |

the grease is what u want get some hi temp bearing grease at is the same s**t I figured so, but as I said, it is the closest thing to silicone grease I've eben able to find! Anyways I['ll nick some CV grease from work tomorrow. |

Ended up getting a bit of a selection so that I'll hopefully have the right crap in teh future. Anyways I got: Penrite Sin Syn Grease -it's some sorta synthetic grease. Castrol Grease GRR(b) Rubber Greace - 'ideal for packing rubber dust covers of hydraulic and mechanical brakes'. Penzoil Premium Wheel Bearing Grease - lithium complex. PBR Rubber Grease - castor oil based. Castrol Grease LMM High Melting Point Extreme Pressure - 'for automotive ball joints and constant velocity joints'. So I guess the Castrol Grease LMM is the way to go? |

So I guess the Castrol Grease LMM is the way to go? ummm why 2 types of rubber grease? the wheel bearing grease or Lmm will be fine u dotn have copper grease! u will need some to lube 1 of the slides in your front calipers...

Copper grease havn't come accross that one yet. But don't need it as I'm only doing the rear calipers at present.
Why two rubber grease because ones lithium based and the others not,s o there different, I dunno why not. cheers matey. |

If you use a bentone clay based grease the pins will stick guaranteed.

But I don't want them sticking, doesn't that defy the point of greaseing tehm? IO'm greasing them so they'll move as needed!?! |
