Will ripping the handbrake up in a Falcon snap the cable? i never been game enough to do it because i always thought that little cars can do it fine, but trying to stop 1500kg of metal could be a lot of pressure on that little cable?

remember also in a RWD vehicle, you've still got the engine turning the rear wheels, so that's also fighting against the handbrake, were in a FWD, the handbrake isn't on the driven wheels.
Either way it definately won't do your handbrake assembly any good, might not snap the cable, might just stretch it. |

personally i wouldnt like to try it without reinforcing the whole brake assmebly/cable some how
as u said, thats a lot of weight to pull up with a thin cable

if youve got a manual ripping the hand brake is no problem, only real problem is disengaging it, it snaps on, but is a pr*ck to take off mid corner.
p.s. private roads people |

What about the fact that some E-series run a drum/disk setup..
This hand brake was purely designed as a park brake. ripping hand brakies only kills these bite sized shoes!

I shove the auto in neutral and jam on the handbrake on the turns on dirt roads tis fun!!!,
would not recommend it on hard road surfaces but

seems to work fine in my EL auto....not that i have to use it much cause i have another car set up for drifting (ED, interior stripped except for drivers seat and door trim and passenger seat and door trim, xr suspension, custom intake, extractors and race pipes and an LSD, and half rollcage i welded together: goes good for just over a grand )....on private roads a***
goin to experiment with getting hydraulic handbrake soon

And you're not putting the mass of the car on the cable. You might stretch the cable, but you'll stretch it anyway, with everyday use. I've got an auto and i do it quite often. (maybe because i don't give a s**t about my car) Sometimes i slam it into neutral, sometimes i don't. Works fine either way. Just go out on a private road, and yank that mother. I like your view mate! I used to be a FWD car owner.. I used to be know as the handbrakie king.... Cheers |

If you dont do it nothing will happen, if you do do it, something might happen, only one way to stop something happening, personnally i wouldnt bother.
