have an unusual (to me) problem when braking. i get hard shudder through the steering wheel and gear lever, but not bad on the pedal. the bit i find unusual is that it really only happens while decellerating past (approx.) 80km/h and 50kmk/h. Slowing past these speeds produces a shudder that feels like it's shaking the whole car. first thought was obviously rotors, but the inconsistency has me thinking booster/abs/diff/gearbox??
on two occasions well before this began occuring i had an abs warning light on 2 occasions but after stopping the car, when i restarted it the light was gone. Brake fluid is full. any ideas? |

If it isn't real bad through the pedal.....check ball joints, Rack ends, Tie rod ends, and bushes in the front end.

the thing that spins me out is the inconsistency. figured if rotors were warped etc it would happen all the time (?)
and no not bad through the pedal at all. let's just say goin down bulli pass on the weekend was a hair raising experience! but cheers for the thoughts, will look into it. |

Sounds like the harmonic balancer if it's only happening around 80km/h or 2000-2200 rpm? Have a look underneath car and see if you can see/feel the rubber separating from the balancer.
