Has anyone here had a look into swapping their front calipers for a set of those big a*** Landcruiser twin piston jobbies? I was reading in one of those specialist racing journals that they are the same as a well known brand caliper except they are cast iron instead of alloy but for all intents and purposes are identical in any other way.

They'll double the weight of you car. No kidding they're heavy mofos. I know someone who has done that conversion on a datto 1600 that he races. Problems are weight, he goes through suspension bushes like they're made of wet paper bags, lack of pad choices - no one make performance pads for land cruisers. They work great though (a 1600 is pretty light compared to a Falcon though).

you need to change out the rotors as well and modify the spindle to suit as well as either modifying the upright or making an adapter plate, upright mods where cutting is involved is illegal, adaptor plates are crap, finding a rotor with the correct offset it nigh on impossible. Finding the right one in a price that is justifiable is another task.
After pricing it out, a sydney race brakes conversion was more viable and yeilded just as good it not better results. to use a Landcruiser caliper, I discovered I would need a floating hub with bolt on bolt off hats. NOT cheap. But yeah enough coin and enough stubourness, you will get there.
