I have xg xr6 with a LSD 3.45 dif, accourding to the tag.

The other day I was moving out from a small culvert where I had parked, and one wheel lifted off the ground. Started spinning and I couldn't move. Only got out once I applied the maori diff lock (Hand brake).

Other wise it makes no ugly noises, and get both wheels going if your that way inclined, and if it's jacked up both wheels turn in the same direction if turn by hand.

So should a standard LSD be able to move the car off if one wheel is not touching? or is it just a stuffed? Car has done 240kms.

Cheers Lads

LSD is exactly that "Limited".

If you have one wheel on the ground and one off, and try to move, then yes in most circumstances
it would move.

The diff breaking pressure is 90nm. so with one wheel stopped you could rotate the other with your hands with the wheel ON.

A good strong tight LSD with a torque setting over over 110nm would in theory spin both wheels in wet and dry and around corners all the time.

But remember these aren't 9" indestructible Diffs, they're little girly diffs that when they single peg once they'll do it again even easier.

ok, that sounds bad, they are good, and last a long time, but don't expect them to smoke both wheels all the time 'cos i've got an lsd.'

replace oils (LSX90 or Penrite Limslip140 or ten tenths, some say Castrol SAF-XA is the best)
Try an Aussie reco, do 10kph REVERSE figure 8's for about 15minutes. that gets the cones spinning backwards and tries to hone in the cones. It does actually tighten them up a little.

calling an illegal alien an 'undocumented immigrant' is like calling a drug dealer an 'unlicensed pharmacist'

cone type has a cone shape piece that has a large thread style groove on it and it it seats in an angled cup style thing, hard to explain but both surfaces wear and they chew out, like krytox said about doing reverse figure 8's to re bedd them in so to say. and the plate style is a better system with lots of little plate all sitting together with some fixed to shafts and other to spider gears and there friction stop them from slipping. did a bad job of that, hope someone can word it better
