So I spent 3 hrs tearing the hubs on my car down last night & found this...
Attachment: My guess is another 2-300k & it would have been a very different outcome. I'd be needing a scrapper to get (even)more of the bearing out of the hub, that's if the wheel was still connected to the car. Speaking to some of the older heads in at work, they took one look & said faulty part. I'd have to agree, the other bearings & races looked in a-1 condition yet this one failed in less than 100k's. We did some research with what we've got at work & these bearings can & often do take large preloads. I did them up to 105Nm which was acceptable & also what was stated in the haynes book I had on hand at the time.
