1. Undo the top shock mounts (one bolt under the plastic behind the rear seat for each)
2. Undo the lower shock bolt (Middle of spring on diff) and remove shock (lower down through eye of spring).
3. Get spring compressors from any auto parts shop, compress spring and remove..

Easiest thing to do ever!

Changing rear shocks is easiest thing ever. Ive heard some stories of things going wrong with the springs, remember how much force is in them when compressed.

Be careful with a compressed spring.

You should only need to compress it slightly to remove it

you dont need to compress the springs on the rear of an e series, just jack the whole rear of the car up and put stands under the chassis so the rear suspension is off the ground, undo both shocks and remove them, the rear suspension will now have dropped enough to just pull them out or atleast enough to push down slightly and the spring will fall out... easy!!

done this dozens of times, spring compressors not nessasary for the rears. Only softies use them, you should have enough strength in your hands to compress it the amount that is actually required to release it from the seats. if your lowering it, then not needed at all.

God supplied you with spring compressors on the ends of your arms, use em save cash.

yeah i did it the way troyman suggested, straight out of the old gregories, was one of the first things i did on the car mechanically actually. Only need spring compressors for the fronts, beauty of a live axle eh?

Here, Here good sir.

Instructions for the front can be found in any gregories or max elleries, go get yourself one, or do a search and download it, its free and only 114meg or there abouts.

Why dont you buy a Greggories manual or the like.
It will be your Bible.
Processes are layed out clearly and in lay-mans terms including pictures and anything too hard to attempt for most will be stated there as such.

When it comes to repairing motor cars, the key is patience (to ensure corners arent cut, things broken or forgotten about), a good eye (to remeber where everything goes or lable bolts and such in glad snap bags, take photos ect) and the right state of mind (do it right the first time) and it WILL work out fine...

Cheers
