Hey guys, im currently in the middle of changing my front springs hpwever i have run into a problem. I cant lossen the upper control arm from the ball joint. I have undone the nut but it wont come apart. I have tried treid and tried. Using spanners as levers etc and pushing on it but it just wont budge. What other means can i use to loosen it without damging anything. Any help would be much appreciated.
Cheers

A ball joint splitter is the best thing to use, there not that expensive.
If worse come to worse; 1) Support the bottom of the stub axle with a jack or a axle stand. put just enough pressure to lift it slightly from the down position. 2) Turn the castellated (spelling?) nut upside down and screw it onto the ball joint thread till it is almost level (like 0.5mm). this will prevent damaging the thread on the ball joint. 3)If you look at the top of the sub-axle where the upper ball joint is, you can get a crow bar or jimmy bar (if not the largest screw driver you have but a crow bar is better) on the top edge of the stub axle and by pushing up you can lever onto the bottom edge of the upper control arm. 4) apply pressure to the crow bar as if you where to lever the two pieces apart. Then with a large ball pein hammer "Crack" the top of the ball joint (hit the nut) with a significant amount of force. It will usually "pop" first go but sometimes may take several attempts. Good luck!

Yeah a bit of pressure between the two makes it split off the taper just that bit easier. Brute force... gota love it.

Have you compressed the spring enough with spring compressors ??
If so, loosen the lower control arm bush bolt, and the front and rear radius rod nuts. Remember to be careful with springs under tension.
