I've pulled up the part number for your cylinder, but the part is coming up as no longer available.
I am trying to cross reference it to a new number for you, but not having much luck. Part number that I am getting is 4253-312. Straight out of the PBR catalogue. I'll keep on it and see what I can find during the day for you.

Thanks mate, I really appreciate your help.
I dropped the slave off at a brake and clutch place this morning. They are gonna ring me when they come up with an idea. They were stumped as well. |

EH/HD/HR (3 sp crashbox)slaves run a 11/8" bore (just under 29mm), so a bit big - also the mounting holes are offset with the body.
The FE/FC type slaves are an external mount - I'd suspect the bore size to be similar to the EH/HD/HR, since they were also fitted to the HR 186S 4 speeds.

Like I said, if I can get a measurement of the bore size (it should be either 22.2mm or 25.4mm) it will concrete the answer for sure. A resleeve on it would probably end up costing more than a new cylinder. We usually only resort to resleeving at a last resort if we can't find a replacement item. You scared me with the Landrover comment, they is nothing decent fitted to Landrovers, trust me the last dealership I worked at used to have Landrovers until September last year, good riddens to the s**t boxes. If he fitted a Landrover slave cylinder it would have leaked again for sure, everything leaks in a Landrover. Resleeving cost more but if he plans to keep it for the long run it will last, especially if he doest replace the fluid at least every 2yrs, many hydraulic clutches have the bonus(and negative in some ways) of using the master cylinder reservoir for the clutch, at least the average smart person will replace that at least every 2yrs.

The clutch place has sent the slave cylinder off to have it tested and resleeved if it needs it.
They said they cant find a suitable replacement as this one was sleeved down to 5/8's already and nothing that they can find matches. They said it could possibly be leaking in between the cylinder and the sleeve that is in it now. Hopefully they can fix it. I just want to drive my car FFS. Im not sure when the fluid was changed before I pulled the motor out. I only had the car for a month or so before the BA motor went in. |
