Hey guys,
Ive got an aftermarket gearbox and a hydraulic clutch setup in my EA. The slave cylinder has shat itself. I had new seals put in it and they leaked after an hour of driving. I want to buy a new one but I don't know what it is from and it doesn't have a legible part number.  It looks as though something was engraved by hand after a dozen beers.
Does anyone know what car this could have come from? Can these be resleeved or something?

your local repco should be able to either ID it, or send it out to be resleeved and new seals put into it once again. either repco or a local brake / clutch place

Dan,
Can you make out any of the embossing eg could it be Aisan or Tokico etc? Try rubbing some dark texta on the marks to see if it helps. As 66 coupe says a specialist should be able to ID it, or an equivalent in bore, throw and bolt holes if he knows his job. There used to be a couple of brake/clutch reconditioners and wreckers in Sydney where they had lots of stock and could usually find an equivalent, perhaps there's such a place in Melbourne? If you can get anything off it we may be able to help more. Paul

From the top image it looks like it says 'made in australia' so would most likely be a girlock cylinder. |

Damn you're good, I just had to copy the image and zoom in to get that.
I was reminded of my past Fords when I first looked at it so I copied the image etc. As it is as you say, Australian, one would expect an experienced clutch man to identify it or find an alternative. It would be interesting to know what components Dellow has used in their conversion kits, but that's another little project of mine for later. Cheers o hawkeyed one, Paul

Sorry guys I should have taken a photo of the other side.
It has PBR written on it. It looks like an older style of writing. The markings that are engraved by hand make no sense. I think its a number about 10 digits long but it is too messed up to read. Ill try the black texta on it shortly. Its a public holiday in Vic today so I cant go anywhere until tomorrow

You know what size bore is on that cylinder? Pretty sure I know which one it is, and I will give you the part number so you can pick it up tomorrow..

Go XR Lita, specialists are always welcome. They even have access to catalogues with pictures LOL
Knowing it's definitely a PBR item helps him Dan! Depending on the age of the unit you still might want to consider changing to a later model equivalent, if XR Lita can come up with a positive ID that shouldn't be too hard. Might even give a hint as to the source vehicle/s for the arm, race and carrier. I think I read that you weren't sure of those either. Cheers, Paul

Going by the pics, it looks like it is one off an older style land rover.
Like I said, if I can get a measurement of the bore size (it should be either 22.2mm or 25.4mm) it will concrete the answer for sure. A resleeve on it would probably end up costing more than a new cylinder. We usually only resort to resleeving at a last resort if we can't find a replacement item.

Going on the info supplied by that link, it won't fit your car anyway. The old Nissan Urvan slave's only have a bore of 19.05mm.
