Hi All,

Little brothers car just changed the other day...

Hopefully there is someone on here who knows BTR inner workings?

Firstly car is an early ED 6cyl 370,000km on the clock... Always had a noisy top planetary set since we've own it...

The other day it just seemed to change...

When driving along it holds first gear until around 3,000rpm then really jerks into the next gear, which feels more like 3rd than second...

Youdrive along and get higher in the rpm and the torque converter locks up and it remains in 3rd... Doing 100km/hr it is doing 3000rpm... Changing shift level back to 3rd doesn't alter revs so I am guessing this is 3rd gear lock up its in and wont go any higher...

Come back into town and go around a corner and revs drop right off then seems to change from 3rd gear back to first and revs real high once more...

Run computer tests and even tried swapping computers... To no avail...

So my question now is... Does this sound like a solenoid fault? Does it sound like a broken band? Does it sound like something else?

As someone who has no idea about auto internals feel free to enlighten me :D

Doubt it fluid related because reverse requires the most pressure to engage IIRC? And it works like normal... Just 2nd and 4th gears seem to have gone walk abouts? :?

Cheers,
Tim

Thats all I needed...

Thought it may have been something easier to swap out like the valve body or a solenoid...

But I think the bands are fairly hard to change yeah?

Cheers for the info mate :D

Tim
