Hey guys just seeking some advice. A mate of mine has lost all drive in his EL. I.e there is no drive or reverse, it will just rev as if it was in neutral all the time, regardless of what position the shifter is in. Its done 280XXX k's so tranny is pretty worn, but no fluid leak and the inhibitor switch is fine. (We swapped it with another one). Has the box had it? Is the best bet to just stick a EF box in which i have spare?
Oh and also, he had no choice but to tow the car home about 50k's so will it be well entruley gone after that?? Cheers Fellas |

The Inhibitor Switch would be the culprit. It changes the mechanical input of the gear selector to electronic input.
It is located on the left side of the auto transmission, and is pretty easy to change. BenJ

yeah we decided to just change the box completely, we swapped the inhibitor switch fiirst which didnt do anything. And when we wer changing the box we dropped the oil out of it and there was plenty in. So its all good now

did the car stall as you put it into gear.
if so you spun the stator tube in the pump. we fix them all the time ,std auto's and being on the brake stalling them up is a real good way to break them out of the pump. cheers dave |
