Use a G clamp but leave the old brake pad on the piston for a flat surface.

For the fronts use the g-clamp, but the rear caliper piston has a twist type piston which needs to be twisted back into place, you can get a tool that goes on a socket of just just a good screw driver and g-clamp in the right way.

The screw type is for X series and EA. Basically the type that doesnt have the seperate handbrake shoe. pair of multi grips can be used on these types but be sure not to damage the boot.

It actually extends to the last of the boxcars mate (ed). I think they got rid of it on the early ef's, havent pulled apart an ef caliper yet, gonna rebuild my calipers when we get back to tafe.

Ef and El have another brake system inside the centre of the disk to act as a handbrake i believe. Therefore theyre missing the handbrake mechanism in the caliper and shouldnt be used on the box cars.

The EF EL calipers wont work on earlier models, there is no arm off the caliper for the handbrake cable to attatch to. The EF handbrake system is still used through til the current BF.
