hi,
what im trying to do is replace the automatics temp sensor with a resistor.
when i do a burnout it puts the auto into limp mode.
its an eb2 btr 91le

my question is do i wire the resistor across the temp ground wire and the temp sensor wire? there for replacing the ford sensor. :?:

or do it just wire it into the temp sensor wire? inline.

i think its the first method but not 100% sure.
btw its a 2.7k ohms resistor

help from you electronic gurus would be greatly appreciated

thanks, michael

I would think the first option is the go.

i.e. cut the sensor out of the picture all together and feed it a constant "everything is ok" signal.

But... one would have to ask why the sensor is sending BTR into limp home? Is it getting too hot?

yes its only doing it when i stall it up for 10 sec +
or doing a burnout before i race.
never goes into limp mode with normal street driving.

thanks buddy

Put a thermo on the transmission cooler?
Can't be good that it's getting so hot that it goes into limp home mode!

ive already got 2 280mm x 200mm oil coolers mounted in front brake ducts.
they are worth $150 each.
its a prob within the auto, eg the oil around clutch pack sits there too long.
heating it up just enough to trop limp.
btw it has a higher than stock stall

I'd go for a tranny cooler first, then if you still have probs, go the trick.

And yeah I'd go option 1 too.

like everyone eles has said if its getting to hot then fix that problem not trying to ignore the sensor that is doing its job.
other wise u will burn out ur trans in no time.
but if u really want to then it doesnt matter really which way u do it in the methods u described

I think he's already got coolers - and the circumstance he's talking about is very specific to competition situation - the best would be to make the bypass resistor switchable so there's still everyday driving safety of having the normal sensor in action.

so do you have a tranny cooler?

Maybe getting a taxi spec one would be a good idea, save your box.
