Hey all,
another problem with the EB, I'm kicking myself at the moment because I deffinately pushed her a little to hard on the weekend. After a night of a bit of fun I realised my brakes making a sort of deap grinding noise (similar to a worn diff) and my *CHECK ABS* light appears after about 2 minutes of driving. What I think happened was I was laying a couple of dark ones down and I might have hit the brakes a little hard or something's gotten caught in the calipers but the thing is I can't find anything at all other than two wear marks that I'm not too certain were there before. Anyway I was just wondering if anyones had a similar problem and a couple of pointers before i take her to the mechanics considering i know nothing about brakes, and little about cars for that matter HAHA  Thanks in advance. |

Sounds like worn out brake pads to me.

For the grinding noise check the discs are not scored from having no brake pads.

Yeah I thought it was the pads too but I had a look and they didnt seem too bad just hoping its nothing too serious

You've probably worn pads down to the indicators telling you to get new pads

G'day,
A few years ago I had a truck race through a round about infront of me. I had to swerve out of the way and go around the round about instead going straight through (if you know what I mean). Anyway; after that my ABS light (EB Wagon V8) would come on. I took it to my mechanic and what happened was a small rock got caught between my disc and the ABS ring on the back of the disc. It damaged the ABS ring, we replaced the rotor (with ABS) and that fixed the problem. Well; it fixed my problem, yours might be something else. Doesn't hurt to have a look at your rotors. cheers, Jase |

Yeah a similar thing happened to me with an old XF ute I had, though that had drum brakes and it was actually caught it the drum.
If it was the pads would the noise occur when my foot isn't on the brakes? What I mean is the noise worsens when the brakes are on, though it's still loud as f**k when I'm driving, so loud I can feel the vibrations in my seat, footrest and steering wheel. I think this is a job for A1 haha |

Finally figured out what it was, turns out the wheel bearings decided to s**t themselves and f**k around with my ABS somehow? anyway does anyone have any idea how much this is going to set me back?

Wheel bearings are pretty cheap. I think you would get change out of $50.
