All that said, you need quite a big bump to hit the bump stops, but that's what they're for!!

Yeah like others were explaining the Bumpstop is just a round peice of rubber that sits on top of your springs. If you jack up one side of your car and have a look underneath the wheelarches you will see it their. I only ever hit the my Bumpstop on s**t Potholed NSW Country roads and some QLD Roads.
I actually drove through a massive pothole going south on Roma St which is in the middle of Brisbanes CBD the other week. I think it was one of the worst potholes I had ever driven through. I swear I thought the Wheel was going to smash thru the wheel arch it made that much noise. Being in the City I wasn't looking out for potholes and so didn't expect it.

the brisbane roads are full of potholes, the rain has separated the bitumen.
I towed a trailer with 500kg in it, with my bro and me, and a full tank, and have never hit the bumpstops
