Was wondering how the mk1 BA's handle towing. I am looking at towing my mates 4x4 to comps and all up weight will be 1400kg plus trailer. I have towed a ED falcon before but only for a 10 minute drive and it seemed to handle it ok but as my current towing system is only rated to 1600kg i was wondering how this and stuff like the trans (4sp auto) and diff will hold up

if your going to continually tow that weight, you need to install the biggest trans cooler you can get your hands on, and ensure the trans is regularly serviced. Tow only in performance mode, not in adaptive mode.

i wouldn't say continuously towing that weight but towing it maybe 4 to 5 time's a year mostly fairly open roads for one to three hours at a time, but some slow hilly types of roads as well

put a trans cooler on it - its better to be safe than sorry.
also, if you tow more than the tow bar is rated to and u have any sort of a stack, its bye bye insurance |

But as you say better to be safe then sorry

what body shape, the sedans are coil springs, while the utes and wagons are leaf spring rears - this does effect the towing. leafs usually tow better.
