how do i change brake pads? is it an easy job, im only doing front brakes for now

Absolute piece of cake dude pull your wheels then remove your calipers two bolts from memory then remove your old pads and stick the new one in. You may need to push the caliper pistons back in to get the caliper to clear the rotor again. do this by getting one of your old pads and a G-clamp and push the piston back in. Any more questions just ask.

what tools do i need, could i do it with a shifter and pliers(i know its a stupid thought) but ive never had to replace pads before

tyre iron (to get wheels off )
socket set (~13mm isnt it?) cant remember g clamp (to push piston back) thats about it.

done my xr8 about 2 weeks ago, took about 15-20 minutes a side tools as mentioned above......the biggest job is to jack the car up and take the wheel off....

put some anti squeal on the back of the new pads before you fit them

Why take the wheel off I never do... vik...just jack up the side your doing

i did mine yesterday, easy as.
just takes common sence, and remember if it isnt fitting it shouldnt go that way, it should all click together... providing you compressed the piston back into the housing. longets bit was going and bedding the danm things in.... |

hi
the fronts easy... but the rear (on ea to ed) you have to wind the piston in like a big screw and the drivers side is opposit thread . so the passanger side winds in clockwise and the drivers side is anty clockwise.. im not to sure about ef/el though... |

if ya dont have a g clamp to push piston back ya can use a screw driver through thehole in the caliper that will also help get caliper off if the rotors are lipped asawell
ps make suer ya do 1 side at a time dont push a piston back while the other 1 is off ya may pop a piston out of ya caliper cheers and good luck.... brett

Moderate stops with increasing pressure. Try not to stop real hard. Make sure you pump the pedal a few times before you drive out the driveway after you fit them as well, pump the pistons back up after you've forced them in.
