Hey everyone,
I'm currently converting my EB into 5sp. I have the box and everything in but the clutch pedal is really quite hard and requires alot of adjustment just to get it to disengage the clutch. I bought a new clutch kit when i did the install. However I'm thinking i might have to drop the box and put the old pressure plate on (coz i think mine might be a bit stuffed). Just as a guide to how hard my clutch is: i cant press the clutch fully using my hand (its too hard). I know compared to other cars this is too hard. So im just looking for some opinions about how fellow fordmods ppls clutches feel. Cheers, Rob

Yeh I bought a standard non heavy duty clutch so i think there must be something else wrong. I'll try swapping pressure plates tomorrow. Gonna be a huge pain in the a**.

You have to be extreemly careful with heavy clutches in falcons. Both the pedal boxes and the firewalls are weak and at some point just about every manual falcon will require one or both of them to be welded after cracking.
Often the cause of a heavy clutch is a rooted clutch cable. Usually it happens over time so you dont notice until one day you hear a clicking noise from down there when you push the clutch in. That means it is time to start welding.

I think there must be something pretty wrong with my clutch coz i have to adjust the cable so much that the clutch pedal is really high up (like twice as high as normal) just to release the clutch. Its like the pressure plate is too heavy to push in. But its not even a heavy duty one.

Sounds like the pedal box might be bent/broken

Mate I cant even move the stick into the gears when the car is on the way the clutch is at the moment.
And I think my pedal box is fine coz im using my auto box with the mal wood clutch pin.

Umm sounds like you just need to adjust the clutch. Pop the bonnet and wind the nuts towards the firewall a few turns and see how that goes.
I have had to do that a few times since I got my manual put in

I have had to do that a few times since I got my manual put in I was told there is a nut inside the car - against firewall to adjust?? not the one against the firewall in engine bay? Either way can comeone explain what this does??? Make clutch harder/softer or change engage point?
