Hi,

I want to replace the shocks in my 98' EL Futura and put some lowering springs in it. I looked at some King springs which would lower it by 35mm, I also looked at some Dobinson springs which would lower it by 50mm, is that too much?, I don't want it that low that It scrapes over speed humps etc, but would like it to be Noticeably lowered and to stiffin the handling up a bit. What shock/spring combination would you reccomend that would improve the handling and lower it enough that it looks good but isn't impractible.

Thanks,
Gordon

I'm running King "Lows", Monroe rear shocks and
KYB shocks up front with a camber kit.
This setup dropped the car by about 35mm.
Very practical, handles great and looks better than standard.

Tough call. Awesome looks with 'super lows' but more practicality with 'lows'

I found with mine i had 'lows' fitted all-round and while the rear sits nice, the front sits a little too high still, and needs 'super lows' to even it out....

With regards to the mud flaps scraping.... rip them C*** off, they look s**t anyway !!

Good combo?

Monroe gt gas shocks are NOT designed for super lows and will lead to premature wear of the shock, not to mention s**t handling. Seen it before with a number of cars, then they ring Monroe whinging that the shock is f**k and want a replacement.

Thanks for the info fellas, Does anyone have a picture of a lowered (35mm) EL? It would be good too get some idea on how it would look, also how do I tell if my car has automatic levelling suspension as I have read that some shocks will not fit if it has.

Thanks again,

Gordon

turn the car on and get 4 mates to sit ont he boot for 5mins then jump off and see if u have about 30-40cm of clearance between the top of the wheel and the guard LOL.

go some king super lows and pedders sports ryders good cheapish nice ride decent setup and isnt too low. ef/el sit higher than ea/eb/ed with super lows ive found so shouldnt have too much worries with them mate

See following link for pics of EF/EL lowered cars....

Also, I dont think the Futura has self-levelling suspension.
Pretty sure this option was for Fairlanes.
