Hi Fellas,

I have an AU which is making some humming noises which I think are front wheel bearing related.

So far I know that the noise is not engine or gearbox related, as it continues at speeds above 60km/h when the engine is taken out of gear (rolling in neutral). The noise becomes louder when the suspension is loaded up through a corner.

I've tried to listen to different areas of the car by lowering the different windows, but can't distinguish any one side. Does this sound like front wheel bearings, and is there a more definitive way to diagnose this?

jack the car up and spin the wheel..

could also be the brake pads down to their minimum wear indicators

Regie, brake pads are brand new (1000kms). When I jack the car up and spin the wheel, should there be an obvious sound which indicates worn bearings?

The AU being a hub assembly which also houses the unservicable bearings its tested by removing the wheel and removing caliper (or make sure pads arent touching rotor) turn the hub and it should be smooth and quiet. If not it needs to be replaced. To replace its a simple job of removing dust cap and removing hub locknut to remove hub assembly.
