Hey guys -
Found an EBII lying around my local mechanics and he's willing to part with it for about $400, which would be handy for some spares. The main attraction for me is he says he thinks it has a Limited Slip diff in it, but I was hoping there was a more certain way to identify it. Is there an easy way to figure out if it is a limited slip or not? Cheers |

check the back of the diff housing and on the filler plug there should be a metal tag hanging off it if its an LSD

Do a burnout
or jack up both back wheels and turn one, if it's LSD the other wheel should turn the same way. A open wheel diff will have the wheels turning in opposite directions.. obviously this will need to be done in neutral with the handbrake off.

Thanks for that Shum. That's the kind of easy I was meaning. The car is packed in between a couple of wrecks really tight, so getting at it isn't very easy. And yeah, be nice to the newbie You might want to consider a sticky if you get asked this question alot. |

If there was a sticky for every question that gets asked repeatedly then you wouldn’t be able to find the rest of the threads

Actually i spoke to soon - from the diff stick at the top of this section:

Jack the back end up after schocking the front wheels. Make sure the car is in neutral and the handbrake released. Spin one of the rear wheels with your hand. If the other rear wheel turns in the same direction as the one you are turning you have lsd. If the other rear wheel turns in the opposite direction, then you have a conventional. Also info on the tags as well
