I need to measure to db coming out out the exhaust on my car.
What i need to know is how far back and on what angle.

about 1 metre back and off 45 degrees.....max allowed is 86db

Take it to the Muffler man at Kingswood. He will do it and issue a certificate.
Costs $80 from memory for a test with certificate.
I think you do have to book with him but.

ouch, it takes like one minute....iv had one done

rev it 3 times to 3000rpm and look at the meter....i scored 84

:shock: better quieten my Ghias exhaust then... last time i had it on the dB meter it was 96 :twisted:

according to my engineer cert its measured at 1550 mm at a 45 deg angle directly behind the exhaust..
the legal limit is 90 db.

the tests are measured..
4 cyl= @4000rpm
6 cyl= @3200rpm
v8 = @3300rpm
and rotory =@4500rpm

155mm or cm? it goes on the age of the car the db. i was told i was allowed 86....iv got some more work to do...although i have changed my pipes :shock:

155cm..
my ed was done in sept last year, and in nsw its 90db max..

it was knocked back at first..it was 94db.. had to fit another resinator hotdog...
ride height was too low, had to raise the rear..
and my blowoff valve wasnt plumbed back. added a hose..lol

the engineer that did mine does act and vic aswell..
