Ok guys and gals. My question is, how can i tell if i have a transmission cooler??? Stupid question yes i know, but i am curious as to where it is and to find out if i have one. The chances i do are high as the car is fitted with a tow bar. Car is a 1994 ED GLi for those of you playing at home.

you should only have a radiator and a aircon condensor at the front of the car, anything else is probably a tranny cooler

It will be infront of your radiator on the drivers side,

Also, Ive seen ones that run into the side of the radiator... FIY. But most common are the small radiators mounted on the front of your radiator, with rubber hoses, which run into metal ones, and go to the auto.
Cheers

lol. Did you get that off the back of a small fridge or something?
The stock ones look better IMO, very neat and tidy. By the way, I forgot to mention, another way to check for a cooler, would be to get under it, and see if there's any metal lines running out of it. Another thought. Cheers

Cheers All the automatic falcons should have trans fluid tank in the side of the radiator. TTBMX - look on the driver's side plastic tank on the radiator and there should be 2 metal fittings going into it which are connected to hoses... the fluid passes through this prior to going through the trans cooler if fitted..
