I have a 94' ED GLi and was wondering how i could find out if i have ABS or not?
Anything written anywhere on the car i should look out for or, any type of part i should find that will tell me?
Thanks for the help.

Yeah i dont think i have either of them, so i went for a quick drive and found a full gravel/loose pebble road, and just hit the brakes hard, and it sorta locked up a little bit.

If you have a Commodore (god forbide!!!) it's easy to tell if you have ABS. You can hear it.

I've got ABS in my Falcon and I, personally, cant tell it's operating. You can't hear or feel it.

These stickers did not come in until the EF2. My EF1 Futura has ABS, and there is no sticker anywhere on the car.

The easiest way to tell (with the EF/EL/AU, not sure about the others) is to count the number of metal lines that come off the side of the master cylinder. If there is 2, the car has ABS. If there are 3 lines, the car does not.

Image

This EF (My EF Futura) has ABS. Note that there are only 2 metal lines, and where the third one would be, there is a plug

Then there is my dad's Au Forte, which does not have ABS. As you can see in the following pic, there are 3 metal lines

Is anyone able to confirm if this is the same for the EB/ED?? I hope that this helps

Would there be a fuse for it in an non-ABS equipped car? cuz that would be an easy check

Also, when activated i can feel the ABS pulsing the brakes when its being used, would that indicate that something is not quite right ? Or is it normal ?

You should only feel the ABS, when it kicks in.

You should not feel any pulsing from the ABS, unless the wheel sensor has sensed that the wheel has locked up, activating the ABS.
A brake pedal that pulses all the time could be something else, usually warped discs

PS. I have locked up in my dad's AU. I thought that the car had ABS, as the fuse was in place. I took the car to my mechanic, to told me that someone else would have put the fuse in there. The is no ABS pump, and no wheel sensors. The way that I posted earlier would be the easiest way to check to see if a car has ABS. I will do some more research, to see if the EB/ED series is the same.

easiest way to tell is accelerate to 40, slam on the brakes. if you screech to a stop, no abs, if you screech intermittently (lock release lock release), abs.

Really felt the ABS for the first time last night, when i was entering a roundabout and didnt see a car already coming through.

Slammed on the brakes and it pulled up quickly with only a little chirp from the tyres said to my mate 'yep definantly got ABS' lol

Thats the thing, it doesnt have any indication if it has abs or not, yet when a dog jumped out in front of me and i slammed on the brakes it didnt lock up, but then again i cant remember the pedal pulsation. And again on the newy fordmods cruise when someone came out infront of me and kenny, and we both had to hit the anchors hard, again i stopped friggin fast and it didnt lock up.

just look and see if it has wheel speed sensors, or an ABS light when u turn the ignition on, or the ABS motor under the airbox as others have said

I'll go with chong_bonger's master cylinder pics as the quickest and easiest way, without doing your back in bending over/removing bits to access, etc. It's 100% bulletproof as the 3rd line under the master cylinder goes to the RHF wheel, giving it away as a non ABS vehicle.
