Coming home last night, downshift into second and I hear some very loud clunking.

I pulled over and started to take of slowly and as the car moved on the clunking got very loud, and sounded as if it was coming from directly under the gear stick. Shifting into second, and same sound, drop into third and its gone... along with fourth and fifth.

But in first and second the clunking is so loud its scary!!

I have an el motor, in the eb, bolted onto T5. and i think last night my first and second gear just went, i wasnt driving hard at all.. was merely cruizing..

Any suggestions on where to get the box fixed? Or should i just replace it?

Does anyone know of anyone that may be able to help in Sydney??

Where abouts in Western Sydney are you? You could get it looked at to be fixed but you'll first need to pull it out if you do that yourself? To get it fixed/rebuilt will cost you a bit of coin and for a 6cyl, I honestly reckon if you're pressed for time to get another T5 from a wrecker (pick and payless blacktown?) and fit it straight up. Either way, have the boxed pulled out first so you can at least inspect the flywheel and clutch assembly.

Iam in Quakers Hill. Iam not too pressed for time, but i figure if its going to come out then i might aswell make sure it doesnt have to come out again. Iam considering getting the whole thing rebuilt, but i have no idea of how much that would cost.. iam going to be trying to find out today.

Hi. A rebuilt T5 will set you back from around the $700 mark exchange.

The best bet is to ring around a few manual transmission specialists and see what the quote you.

The cheapest option is to just source another box second hand and see how you go with it.

You will also need to know what type of T5 you have as EA to EB1 had different gear ratios compared to EB11 onwards.
