I cannot get the shifter to move out of park. I have tried pressing the side button in but its not working. I have tried moving the car backwards and forwards and had someone else try to move the shifter while i was moving the car but it still wont move out of park. I have used enough force trying to move the shifter to almost break the plastic.
How do i get out of here? |

Pull the suttound up from around the shifter, and have a look and see if the little selector thing is moving clear of the detent for park. What car?

didnt work, I am able to move the selector out of the park guide and just able to squeeze it into the reverse notch in the guide but the car still doesnt go into reverse.
Its not dis engaging from the "park" function of the box. Is there a linkage i can adjust? |

not easily if its internal in the box, see if ucan assist the linkage by pushing it right near the box while some 1 else tries to move

i think he is still stuck there......poor fella. give it a bit of a kick or hammer the tranny box with a shifter or something like the russians do it.....seems to work sometimes.
did u unscrew the shifter and pushed that metal rod down? if that didnt fix the problem try smashing the shifter onto the gearbox phong =P~

a trolley jack under the diff is useful for moving a car

yer i used that and a forklift to pull it, left scrape marks leading up to the factory though because the steel castors were quite small.
The problem turned out to be with in the gearbox, a selector pin had worn away at the aluminium, causing it to get stuck, the pin has since been re-bent to it cannot stick. |
