To my suprise while I've been changing my leaf springs I have found that Ford have continued using UNF on the EF and possibly onwards. The threads and nuts on the shackles are 3/8 UNF and the U-bolts and nuts are 7/16 UNF! Youd think they would have changed these and kept the entire car metric...!?!

the 5ltrs have a totally imperial engine, and they were run till the AU's, so go figure. Imperial is better anyway, easier to read bolts and sizes, and none of this 4 different thread pitches for every size of bolt, unlike the s**t metric system. Ive got a heap of bolts and nuts from playing around with dirt/road bikes and the odd jap cars, and most of the time, I cant source a metric bolt out of these to fit a falcon.

Just what i was gonna say. Working on my EF - most (if not all) of the interior, chassis, suspension, body etc is metric. Pop the bonnet and the electrical, cooling etc all metric. But as soon as you get to items which are bolted onto the engine itself... bugger off inside and grab the "standard" socket set.
