Hi all..
Im sure this has probably been bought up before... just couldnt seem to find it... I've got an EL XR and im having BIG inside front tire wear issues. Would a camber/caster kit, help this...??? I have super low king springs so this doesnt help i know... but i seem to wear the tires right down to no tread at all for about 3 or 4cm on the inside while the outside of the tires are almost perfect. Im thinking of gettitng 19 inch wheels for it so just wanted to try to get the problem fixed up so i dont start chewing up 19inch tires!!! Any advice on a good place to get it looked at/fixed??? and will the kit get rid of the problem or just reduce it a bit??? Also one last question... after fitting the kit has anyone found that it affected the handling (i.e. not as much camber) sorry for the long post... any help appreciated.. thanks Ben |

If its even wear on the inside of both tyres you have toe out. If you didnt have a camber/caster kit fitted or even a wheel alignment after lowering its best to have them both done.

you need a camber kit.
wont affect handling as it will bring it back into factory specifications

Get a shim-style camber.castor kit ... and also make sure the toe setting on the front isn't set too negative (as in toe-out) ... it should be pretty neutral.
I have a little bit of toe-out on the front of the ute ... cos when i am loaded up ... it helps with handling and turn-in with a lot of weight in the rear.

there is a doodgy way of fixing camber problems with out using camber kits or if ya have to much camber and ya cant fix with just kits............. bend ya front knuckle inbetween the hub and where ya upper ball joint bolts in ................it may sound doodgy but "have u ever seen a falcon thats been hit in the front wheel and its running about 15 degrees camber " well if ya have it would went to a insurance mechanical repair shop (i use to work in 1 ) and if if the knuckle was only bent a couple of mm it would be pressed to get it straight again (insurance companys know it happens ) ..... if someone can post up a pick of a knuckle i could play with the pic and put some arrows in to show ya
sorry to steal post
