nope but i have helped happy put it into his Ef coon
and it a big job, should be a bit easier on the au as abs module is in engine bay. you would need the abs axles etc and all the wiring loom as long as you swap all the wrecked stuff from the mont to the forte it should work........

as frank said, swap ALL the looms over and it'll be a piece of cake, don't mess around trying to put the necessary wires into the old loom.. just pull the old looms out, put the new looms in.. it'll take no time if you do things right.

I'm doing the same thing...
Fairmont diff, fairmont front end from the crossmember down and all looms.. will also need to re-route some brake lines to send them to the abs module behind the front bar on the passanger side. |

you will need the brake lines from the abs equipped car as they are already the correct shape and length

The early EF's run an ABS unit as per the pic in the doco - late EF's and EL's run a different type unit - both are Bosch though. The brake lines into both are different as far as bends go, etc.
The rear brake lines for all the 3 channel ABS are identical to non ABS cars from firewall rearwards.

Hey Snap... How do you tell the various models apart? I ask because I picked one up for free the other day from an EF XR8 and figured it'd be the same as an EL one.... not so sure now..
is there any downside to the older ones?? is the loom the same? rgds Frank |

Does it look like the one at http://www.fordmods.com/forums/ABS-Diagnostics-d2.html ??
If so that's the earlier Bosch unit - pipe fittings may be the same, but the bends, etc are different. Electrical plugs are different too. The later EF/EL/AUI 3 channel units look like the one at http://www.bba-reman.com/content.aspx?c ... BS_Removal and are a Bosch 5.3 model. Also don't get the above confused with the EA-ED items which are Bendix, and the ECU and pump are separate items in them.

OK.... it looks like the one in the fordmods tute..
So I have early EF it seems... it has bosch on it, but no part number.. has two block plugs, one long and one short. So I will have to source one from an EL if I want it to all match up.. bummer.. another item to source that I had previously crossed off the list. |
