Is there any difference in the master cylinder of a 6 and a v8 in the ED Fairmont Ghia?
Or do all falcons use the same part??

abs & non abs use the same master cylinder. 6Cyl & V8 do have different part numbers due to the different split points. But for some stoopid reason PBR list a 6cyl master cylinder for a EB GT.
Split Points Are 6 Cyl Sedan 2.4 6 Cyl Wagon 3.1 8 Cyl Sedan 1.4 8 Cyl Wagon 1.8 XR6 Sedan Use a V8 master cylinder 1.4 Split point is stamped on the end of the master cylinder. Hope This Helps |

i found that the non abs has an extra brake line compared to the factory abs one..
but i guess replacement ones would be suited for both. i have both and you can use the non abs one in an abs car (just block the port for the extra line)but not the otherway around?? Last edited by TROYMAN on Wed Aug 19, 2009 10:50 pm, edited 1 time in total. |

They use a block off nut for the master cylinder if it has abs. That's the only difference between abs & non abs.

What difference does the different split point make?

Bump.
Can anyone explain the split points? I find that since lowering my car, the front wheels lock up much more easily, probably as there is less weight transfer to the front of the vehicle, as the springs are firmer. Thus, I want a master cylinder which puts more pressure towards the rear, to compensate. Jason
