To check raise the car and grab one hand on the diff flange and the other on the tail shaft hold the flange and turn the driveshaft if there is movement change the universal also check the front universal. if no movement the diff needs re shimming gassa

Breaks are all good, had them replaced since i bought the car. The sound was there when i bought it.
Trailing arm bushes? Im guessing they are the same as control arm bushes on other cars? Where the arm attaches to the car body? |

I don't mean to be silly here but, are you SURE it is from the Rear? It might be from the front as Eseries are prone to work out strut rod bushes on the K frame.
And yes, the Trailing arms are the locaters of the Diff, there are 2 uppers and 2 lowers. |

This is an example....from my ED.

Any tips for checking the trailing arms?
As they are fairly hard to check. GASSA wrote: Depending on th K's the car has done it could be the backlash in the diff. Checked the rear and there seems to be no play in the uni joint. Seems to be a bit in the diff though. Front there is a little bit of play, maybe a mm im able to move it back and forth. |

Sound seems to be coming from the Diff as far as my ear can pick up.
