Rather than start a new thread il ask the question here in my old EL XR suspension thread

King Springs Lows with stock shocks - good or not?

I found some second hand King Springs Lows for $120 so was wondering if my stock shocks will be ok and what the ride would be like with them? can i get away with out new shocks?

Cheers

XR appoximately 25-30mm lower than stock Gli. They are also slightly raked by about 10-15mm.

Lows show be fine with stock shocks. Though I am not sure if it will sit a tad higher then what it should, due to the standard height shocks. Though it will definitely still sit lower and nicer.

Super lows and stock shocks are said to be a bad combination due to the springs not being trapped properly.

Not 100% sure on what I just said, so don't quote me.

I didn't think the shock had anything to do with the
ride height??
Spring does all the work..................??

Do some research FFS Fabz.

LOWS = XR HEIGHT.

Year sort of.

I have seen pics of peoples cars whilst 'searching' and some cars are much lower than other but all have 'lows'

I dont know anything about how the suspension works on a car so if i put the king lows i got in my car with the stock shocks with that make it sit like an xr? If i have lowered shocks how much lower will that make her?

Also will it sit level with lows and stock shocks?

Look - stock shocks will not affect the height of your car.

You can get short stroke/lowered frot shocks. They have a lower spring seat, which will lower your car again, albeit very slightly.

You can also get rear shortened shocks, however these will not change the height of your car (as the spring rests on the diff not the shock).

Shortened shocks give you a much better ride quality over std shocks, but only in superlow/ultralow etc situations.
The body of the shock is shorter, so the shockie is not under a constant, say half load, like a std height shockie would be in a superlow situation.

XRs run stock shocks. Therefore if you're running lows, which is equiv to XR height, you too can also run std shocks.

Will it sit level depends on the springs, not the shocks.
Normally the rear will be a touch higher, and if you get shortened front shocks, the rear will sit even higher in comparison.
Easy fix is to lop off half a coil from the rears.

Or you could just buy superlow fronts, and ultra rears.
