hey guys, just a question... i got my car slammed the other day, with kings SL in the front, and Lovells SL in the rear, after hearing they sit about the same height.. however the lovells sit much higher in the back.. any ideas why? i still have standard shocks all round. When i had standard springs, the rear sat higher aswell.
cheers, nath

wait a while before you make any calls... my car took over a month before it settled to it's current height..

Fair enough... just seemed the kings have settled to normal superlow height... but the lovells havent.. unless they are known for taking longer to settle?

you generally will always have more height in the back.

allot of guys here will go supers in the front and ultra's in the back...
I'm actually thinking of bucking the trend and just going XR springs on the EL.. will wait and see what it looks like.. (have them already, just not on the car) |

King Super Lows and BOGE shocks all round in my EA. Car went from off road with rake effect to dumped and level. Very happy with the outcome.

I'm going to be putting my EL fairmont on kings SL's with Koni reds all round over xmas. I will have to see how it goes. Hopefully close to level, but I dont mind a small amount of rake. If not, I will try out UL's in the back.

Are the aftermarket coils the same from EA to EL? If so could the problem be that they designed them for the EA and have just applied them to later models as they arose? The later models get heavier at the front, bbm, thicker K-frame, ABS unit, etc?

reason being is Kings are a static wound spring, whereas lovells are a progressive wound unit. they will settle a bit but if your talking inches difference, they won't settle that much.
Progressive wound springs actually have 2 separate spring rates wound into the spring and provide a more comfortable ride, on paper anyway.

king supers all round, mine sits perfectly level but I think thats partly due to the gas tank in the boot.

Progressive wound springs actually have 2 separate spring rates wound into the spring and provide a more comfortable ride, on paper anyway. Settling should be similar between linear and progressive wound springs, though yes maybe more with progressive's. Progressive wound springs only have two or more rates when one or more sections of the spring become fully compressed (bound). Until or unless that happens they just operate as a linear rate spring. The spring will always take the path of least resistance, which generates a linear rate. They are progressively wound typically so that the free length of the spring is longer and thus there is less likelihood of the spring becoming loose at full suspension droop.
