It'll be about 50-75mm away. The height difference between standard and short stroke shocks should be minimal. I had SSL springs in the front and rear of my DA and that never touched the bump stops, even with a BTR in the boot!

I'm not sure why your EB was hitting the bump stops.
It's pretty typical for standard stroke shocks to degrade quickly when being run in a lowered position, it happened in my DA. I should have taken pictures, but I recently wrecked out a DA and removed the front and rear springs before it was taken to scrap. It was only a few millimetres from tucking a 14" rim into the guard. Perhaps your EB bushes were a bit worn, which lead to it hitting the bump stops when going over rough roads at speed or something?
