I cant figure out where this knocking sound comes from. Even the slightest unbalance on the road sometimes when braking I hear this knock sometimes it feels like it's going to pop out through the floor when Im driving. Now here's the list of things replaced once or twice in a period of 18 months:
Front shocks - replaced twice Front springs - replaced twice Front wheel bearings and hubs - replaced and all new Lower ball joints - replaced twice Upper ball joints - replaced twice Upper control arm bushes - all replaced Lower control arm bushes - all brand new Tie rods and tie rod ends - all replaced Sway bar links - replaced twice Sway bar bushes - all replaced Front rotors - all new Tyres - all new Tranny - all serviced Diff - all reconditioned I cant bl00dy think of anything else (Im not a mechanic but I have always been driving Fords since my F150 back in the 90's). The mechanic basically puts in what I tell them to and they don't even suggest or find what is wrong. Is it because of shocks/springs that could maybe a little cheap being just normal ones the mechanics put in. Or are there other bushes Im missing or anything to do with sway bar that I haven't got to? Hope anyone can help Thanks |

My AU111 needed the steering box bolts done up. Fixed the problem.

maybe that explains why the noise went away when the tie rods and ends were replaced, maybe they bolted them all tight ... and now .... I'll get the shop to have a look and will post what they find thanks

have you tried to put the front of the car up on safety stands and turn the wheel to see if its a steering noise, i mean you could get the wife etc to yank on the wheel while your under there looking and listening to everything, dont do it on a jack please, saftey FIRST while under a vehical.

this long expensive problem finally has been solved by just $20 fix.
The mechanics have replaced, upper and lower ball joints 3 times, front shocks/springs twice, all wheel bearings and hubs, upper and lower control arm bushes, links, swaybar bushes, tie rods and ends - same issue existed. Someone told me about a small suspension shop not far and they went through all - and starting knocking or replacing bolts to do with the sway bar and bang - all quiet. At least everything else is new. Just reporting back |
