G'day guys,
My rear shocks are leaking/stuffed. Just worn I s'pose. In the near future they will need replacing. I have been calling around for quotes and asking after good shockers. At autosport (Magill Rd SA) they recommended koni's. I think the rear (for a set of two) cost around the 280 mark, that was supplied only. I have heard good things about kon's, and have always wanted them. Can I have a recommendation on these shock absorbers? At some (distant) point in the future I also have designs to lower my car, by about 1-2', although being an XR it already sits a bit lower. Would koni's therefore be a good choice. Any help or info I would need to know about Koni's? Alex C.

Go the Koni's mate......They are some of the best shockers made.
I wouldn't worry about paying someone extra money to fit them because fitting the rear shockers is a pretty straight forward job.

Thats a fairly good price, you sure that's right?
Can't go past koni or bilstein.

Yeah Koni's are definately the go mate, good quality shocks. I would also reccommend KYB Sports Gas shocks too also very good quality.

KYB would be a little bit cheaper and was told there is really not much difference between them and the Koni/Blistein.. but I could be wrong as I have no real comparison..
They are deemed to be an excellent product everywhere so surely there'd be the way to go if you can afford it (which I couldn't ).

are konis adjustable, if they are is it the spring hight that is adjustable or the damping...

You can get koni adjustables, which you can adjust with them still attached. It's as simple as turning a knob. Then you can get other konis, which are still adjustable, except you need to remove the shock from the car. The koni adjustables, just alter the rate at which the shock expands at. You can't alter the spring height, by the shock. To alter the ride height, you need to look at airbags or hydraulics.

Is there a specific type (eg. colour) I would want?

koni specials ie. the red ones. the yellow sports ones would just be over the top. i'm pretty sure the other colour are just standard replacement shocks so i'd say that's what u were quoted for because that seems REALLY cheap for a pair.

Can't go past koni or bilstein. No way would that price apply to the AU IRS shockers. Close to $600 for the pair without a trade order ghiaman |

Yeh i got Koni Reds in the rear, its annoying getting them out to adjust every time but after a while i just left it at 1.
They feel pretty good, also ive been told theyre rebuildable so you dont have to buy replacement shocks later. |
