I have a stock exhaust on my EF Ghia ATM, it is also at stock height. I find the centre muffler catches slightly when going up and down my driveway.
What can I do to lift it up? My EF Gli also had the same exhaust but didn't scrape. |

check to see if the rubber holders are worn, and sagging for a start.
i have a very low car, and somthing i had to do was get the exhaust hangers shortend, but at stock height you shouldnt need that. |

you can bend the hanger at the rear of the main muffler to pull the muffler up

Fordom, what springs do you have? Looks hot at that height.
Il check out the rubbers and the back bracket, but it needs to be lifted more at the front. Cheers guys. |

the springs were kingsprings std..but im pretty sure they either got compressed or sagged, cause i fitted sl's today and they were the same height..the car only sits 2cm lower with the sl..

Rushed I am interested to know about the shortened hangers too. I don't want the car really low, but need to sort this out before I go lower. May be easier to just chuck a catback on...
Cheers Fordom. |

i didnt do it myself, i got the exhaust shop to do it.
but basicly they cut and rewelded the center bracket, and looks like they bent the rear one alot to line up the tip to the bar, theres about 5mm gap from the bar, and it doesnt move at all. lowest point on my car now is the k-frame which has some nice battle scars on it now |

nothing, i thought of all this when i got the system and made sure to ask.
edit: find a decent exhaust shop and if they arnt to busy they should do it for you rather cheaply, i mean how hard it it to grind some steel rod and weld it? |

When I had mine done, incuding a new cat. It got a new pipe from manifold to tip.
This allowed them to keep the cat up as high as possible, with the rest of the exhaust following as close to the floor pan as it could be too. You dont need to fit a new cat to do this. You can get the cat cut from the original pipe. Have flanges welded (optional) to it and repositioned as if extractors were infront of it. Your new cat back exhaust will be ready for a future high flow cat and extractors. The new section of pipe between manifold and cat can be bent as to start the exhaust system as close to the floor pan as needed.

I've seen some old style solid exhaust hangers that look like they would hold the exhaust higher, but might transmit more vibration.

Its the front muffler scraping on the front and back welds that hold either end together.
The catbacks I have seen don't have a front muffler, so this looks attractive, I can also then have a bigger tip to fill the rear bar cutout. I haven't heard a good one yet though, they all sound drony, too loud and have a very monotonous note. |

Went to an exhaust shop and got the rubber thing replaced...to raise it, we just used 2 cable ties. f**k works well. My lowest point of the car now is the lower front bumper portion where something has snapped itself...stupid parking lot concrete stoppers.
