I was looking at the lokka http://www.4wdsystems.com.au/html/lokka.htm
At $600 + DIY install, it seems a good alternative to getting an lsd. Im wondering if anyone has one and can comment on its performance, also if there is any legal issues with it.

i had these in the front and back of my 4runner, they are great. i have thought about giving one of these a go in the wagon.
with the 31x10.5r15 muddies on the 4runner it wasnt too bad on the street but they are noisy, they click when they are not engaged and clunk everynow and then when they engage. i would be interested to see how they handle a bit of power being put through them, but then again in the 4wd the first gear ratio in low range is something like 73:1 so the torque multiplication at the diff would have been huge and it never broke them. and it used to hook up unreal heli's on the street when it was raining, lol.

Important Questions:
Q17. Will it affect my ratio ? A. No. LOKKA fits inside the carrier and does not affect the crown wheel or pinion which determine the diff ratio. Q18. Can I fit it to my 2WD? A. Yes. LOKKA will function in any type of diff providing it will fit. Q21. Can I use it with my Supercharged V10 engine ! ? A. Yes. LOKKA's design allows it operate under high power conditions. That is not to say that the rest of the drive train can handle the power ! LOKKA is used in racing applications around the world, including Baja, Circle Track, Autocross, Hill Climb and even drag racing.

You can fing heaps of info on them, In the states they call them a ratcheting diff.

They did a test on switchable air lockers in Zoom, fitted one to a BA XR6T. They were pretty positive about it, used a vacuum tank to store enough air to operate it. I think it was an ARB model?

Hi
You wont be able to get one for your Borg Warner Diff. You are better off getting a nine inch modified to fit your car then fit the gears and diff you need. Look at something like the torsen type diff. There is a cheaper version available as well, in case you fall over when you see how dear a torsen is. The geared type lsds drive much nicer than the locker/ detroit locker type. Corey |

Whoops I hadnt looked at the website DOH! I was thinking of the detroit locker not being available. They are alot like driving a spool that does realease around corners when not under power. Same operation as the detoit locker. Look up some of the reviews for detroit lockers and youll see what people think. A limited slip is much nicer in operation as its smooth between open and driving both wheels. Some of the reviews say that on a cambered wetr road the lockers tend to slide to the side of the road because both wheels are driving not just the wheel that has the traction.
