Well, the heads and cam are now in, but due to insufficient vacuum at idle, i am having brake troubles when parking/creeping forward.
Does anyone know where i can get an electric/mechanical vacuum pump, or how to hook up a vacuum resivoir so i can solve this issue.
Other than this small problem, it is an absolute dream to drive.
Brett

I thought that your brake booster would act as a reservoir because they should still be able to provide assistance for at least two pumps when engine is off.... you might have a leak somewhere.

Maybe you can checkout the vacuum pumps on diesels... they have a pump mounted on the alternator to provide vacuum - maybe you can use something similar?

I'm under the impression there is already a vacuum reservoir...

besides that, your brakes should still work without any vacuum assistance quite well at idle, unless they need bleeding badly?

They dont need bleeding, the thing has no vacuum at idle as a result of the new cam. It hunts through about 700rpm from 400-1100rpm. If we can get it to idle, that may solve the issue. When it is motorin along, the brakes are fine, it is just when i am parking and using very light throttle.
Was thinking about one of the vacuum pumps from the early corona's, they used them to help meet emmission controls, just gotta find one.

Having been in your car the other week Brett, I'm all too aware of the problem.
Here's a few things I'd suggest (based on what's already been said):
Maybe the check valve on the brake booster is not holding vacuum - run the car at fast idle (to ensure decent vacuum), then turn ignition straight off, wait a couple of minutes, pump the pedal and see if you get vacuum assistance for 2 pumps.
Run your climate control on face vent, and have the fan speed so you can feel the airflow, if you're going slow and the brakes aren't getting enough assistance, I would think the climate control vacuum would drop and the airflow would default to demist. You should notice the airflow change.

Have you put a vaccy gauge on just to see what you are getting ??

Using the EMS built in Vac gauge, it fluctuates between 6PSI and 1.5PSI, just before the revs then pickup and swings up to 6-8psi and 1300rpm.
Will do the check tomorrow

Ok
I managed to get it sorted this evening, Adjusted the idle to 1000rpm, and through some fine tuning of the EMS, it now holds a constant idle of 1000rpm and has a trong vac signal of 7-9psi. All is good now thanks guys
