I had all the bushes removed from my lower control arm - the strut rod, lower shockabsorber and the one where the arm conects to the K-frame/cghasis. Now the bloke who idd it left metal washe/rings/fittings in this hole, the new Nolathane bushes doen't have these - am I ment to reuse these or not use them (as the Nolathanes probably would of included them if they were ment to be used right?)?

Nolethane come as "shelled" and "un-shelled" If you are fitting nolethane for the first time you will need "shelled" Shelled is the outer shell that is pressed in and then the nolethane bush is inserted, when its time for the bush to be replaced all you need is "un-shelled" as the shell is still ok.

You'd think they'd include shelled ones in the evo kits then considering that kits designed to upgrade your suspension to nolathane from factory.

Just double checked the Nolathane catalogue, and there's only one listing for the lower control arms inner bush, which is the ones I have. No mention of shelled and unshelled at all!

You can see the catalogue online at - http://www.nolathane.com.au/proc_selection.php .

He should have removed those rings aswell. Theres no need for them. They can easily be removed by a chisel and hammer. Just tap em and they should come out

Yeah I did already remove them as I wanted to clean them up if I was going to reuse them. So your saying I don't use them with the new Nolathane bushes?

The outer shell of the existing bush should have come out with the old bush.

The new Nolathane bushes are supposed to mount in place of the entire existing bush.

There are no Nolathane bushes for e-series falcons that come with an outer metal shell. They are all perfectly sized to fit in the existing holes.

The lower inner bush should slide into the arm and fit snugly. ie not rattle around, but sit in there firmly.

nope, just discard them. When refitting the new urethane bush, the fatter end goes to the front of the arm - and make sure you use heaps of grease on the crush tube and the faces of the bush. Basically wherever there will be fricition.

I've Nolathaned 1.5 cars in my driveway, with another to do this weekend. I know the ins and outs of doing this s**t on a concrete driveway floor.

Maybe I shoud just give you my mobile number...

And as xf_xr6 said, grease them, and grease them well!

If the old bush came out without its shell, then your front bushes must have seriously been f**k.

I'd be careful on your first drive of your car, chances are you'll run it off the road as your steering will be razor sharp compared to previously.

I've been driving around with stock suspension for too long since I smacked the old car.

The front won't be done till next week. I need to get new wheel bearings from work, new tie rod ends and steering rack boots, figure I might aswell replace then all while I'm there!
And then I've still gotthe rear to do.
But even then the cars not driving as it's got no fuel tank at the moment.
