so im getting a ba falcon soon and i test drove one at a dealer and the guy said u cant realy lower them much because it will handle like s**t. id only want to lower as much as superlows (so the top of the wheel is about inline with the guard) has anyone done this with their ba falcon? how much did it cost. is it any more complicated than lowering earlier model falcons etc?

read some where on here that there is a suspenion kit from some company that is really good
i cant see how lowering a car will make it handle like s**t unless you uses s**t parts

our run around car at work is a BA XT dropped 2" on pedders springs and shocks and it rides/corners really well.. a little stiffer than standard but definatly corners 10x better.,..

factory lowered BA's (GT,XR's) have adjustable rear camber kits. where as the std falcon doesnt. this is the only problem i can see. the fact that tyres may scub out on the rear.

I did a mates BA, with lovell springs, and 18" wheels.
It handles really well, and as long as you get a wheel alignment done, it will be right. I think your dealer is full of it.... |

I have an 04 BA which i have lowered approx 2" with King springs and have upgraded to 18" wheels and it handles fantastically . Speak to an expert not a car salesman.

well i figured he was full of s**t he was probably thinking of cut springs or somthing. so how much did u pay? and do u need new shocks?

Look at any BA cop acr wheather it be marked or umarked they are lower then the bomodores so why can't a stocker BA be done?

not sure if this is true,but froad told me u cant lower a egas BA for some reason to do with a different setup of the suspension.
anyone know different about egas cars???? cheers

egas cars would have heavy duty springs in back to compensate for the weight of the tank.. you can lower em, but the lowered springs would have to be real heavy to cope with the added weight inside the reduced susp travel... local suspension joint should give an idea

Put super lows in my ba ( ute) and the only thing l didnt like was that it tended to understeer badly. Didnt help that it had the 16 inch stockies either. Those things squeel there tits off at the slightest bit of corner speed.

Springs will set you back around $250 give or take, and around $150 to fit them, plus a wheel alignment - around $40 Standard shocks are fine |

Surprisingly enough, Ford do make sure that all the suspension gear all works as one. Change this setup with just say springs and this 'harmonious balance' will disappear. So, the dealer was right in a way.. However it won't be so bad that if you turn a corner harder than usual, the car will roll over.
Whole suspension kits are the best way, but of course people don't have the money for it. If you change the springs, I recommend a set of dampers matched to the spring rate at least.

Obviously you havent driven a standard BA?
You can just about roll them over going into a corner moderately... Lower it 2" and it handles way better, not quite as good as the XR6 handles, but a huge improvement over the standard setup. |

In stock form they aren't that bad, but they aren't really designed for performance. I've only driven mums BA1 XR8 which is very nose heavy, the G220 and GT. So I guess you're right, have yet to drive a standard BA.
