Now I know about lowering falcon sedans, but what things should I know before lowering an EL wagon? I have a full tow pack installed as well. How low can I go?

What are lowering blocks?

They sit between the axle and the leaf springs in the rear, and so lowers the car. However, full suspension movement is retained, and so it can sit low with a load on!

Ah I see. Does it bottom out more often due to the full suspension movement?

if you are only after looks then lowering blocks are ok, just, but if you want to do it properly get your leaves reset, and add an extra leaf to each side aswell, not only will it look tops but it will handle a 1000 times better.
i think there is some photos of my wagon in my gallery.

Resetting the leaves: Is that a DIY job? I mean I have no issues with changing the front springs and shocks, so is it hard to reset the leaves?

My old man has an EL wagon. He has pedders stuff under it. I think he has 2" lowering blocks in the back. It seems to be about 5mm higher than my EL with kings superlows all round. It would look horn if he had some 17's on it

Yeah, King springs make leaf springs, lows and super lows. Ive got superlows in the back of my wagon (3 inch drop), plus 2.5 inch lowering blocks... and 3/3.5 inch drop in the front, all pedders (shocks, springs, bushes), except for the leafs. Looks good, needs BIG swaybars.lol
Cheers

Resetting the leaves is a job to be left for the professionals. The spring packs are disassembled, heated, and then bent in a large press. The pack is then reassembled for use. Getting an even bend, knowing what youre doing, and getting the temperature right is critical but!

I've been quoted $150 to get the leaf suspension reset. This will lower the car only. To stiffen the ride I've been quoted $100 to add an extra leaf on each side. That makes a total of $250. These are all parts only prices and it's an extra $150 if they remove and reinstall the springs.
Now these prices just seem a bit high to me? What have you guys paid? Do you know anyone that can do it cheaper? |
