Is this going to work?
Topic: Lowering the rear of an AU xr6 Ute Standard equipment: 17" Au xr wheels, standard shocks. Method: Flip smallest spring and place on top of pack (1 inch) + 1.5 inch lowering block = 2.5" Lower Price: approx. $60-80 + beer Not really asking what the safest, most legal option, etc. etc. Just wondering -- Will this successfully lower the ute 2.5" without causing the shock mounts to hit my 17" wheels. How drastically will it affect the ride and load capacity? And yes I know everyone is going to say just get them reset or just buy news ones I can get a new set for $700, 1but i think its a dam waste of money. And if you really have to suggest resetting then can you tell me how to do it myself for nothing? I can take my springs into Pedders and get them reset for $220, but if I can use the above method plus lowering blocks I don't mind saving $150 bucks!

One easy way I saw it done was to simply remove 1 or 2 leaves.
Makes the spring softer I think, but it cruised ok and was lowered.

The problem with lowering an AU ute/wagon, is that the shockie is bolted to the outside of the base plate.....fitting lowering blocks makes the wheels hit the shockie mounts.
A bloke (that was a customer at a place I worked at) had to fit 19" rims ( had to take off the original 17" T'ford wheels) so the lowering blocks would work. Changing the spring pack by taking some out, or altering it so it can't carry its Tare weight would be illegal, and loss of insurance cover in an accident.......just sayin'.....same as fitting mags n tyres that aren't rated for the GVM of the ute.

Yeah, don't take that as a recmmendation from me either..
Just an idea I've seen done... I know it sucks, but shop around.. Properly lowered leaf springs are definately the best option...
