What would be the best way to go about lowering my wagon? I was going to get some low springs for the front. With the back, what are the options? Is it just a matter of putting some lowering blocks in or should I add an extra leaf or even get a new sets of leaf springs?

i had a ef xr6 wgn which is already a touch lower as it has a 5 leaf rear end in it but i just used 2inch lowering blocks and superlows in the front all on std gt gas shocks. you will get those on here that will tell you that this won't work as you need lowered shocks yada yada yada.

unless you are doing track days the std shocks will last for everyday driving. i had my wagon for 4 years, went to qld and back in it 4 times fully loaded and had zero issues with the suspension.

some pics in my gallery.

my ba on the other hand i didn't want lowered too much as its the missus car but i wanted it firmed up a bit so i put xr6t springs in it. for the rear i used springs from a ute. they sit about 15mm lower and have an extra leaf. ride is much better. i would rather it lower but practicality won the day.

xr6t for the ba.

for the eb i'd chase down some xg or xh ute springs and combine them with some 2 inch(i think thats the biggest you can go) lowering blocks. the ute springs will be 5 leaf and stiffer so when its lowered the ride is stiffened also so it won't bottom out as much. only trouble i had with the xr6 wagon was when fully loaded it would hit the bump stop above the diff. these are $20 give or take from a wrecker so just replace. only did mine once.

Just out of interest.....

If one was to put say King Lows in the front (approx -35mm in ride height),
would 1.5" lowering blocks match this, or would 2" blocks be a better
match, as the back end in the E series wagons sits fairly high as standard..??

Basically looking for an even or level appearance in ride height, un-laden.

pics in my gallery of mine. superlows front, 2" blocks rear and it sits pretty good. bear in mind though that being an xr it has 5 leaf springs in the rear which are lower than the std wagon.

get the rear leaves reset, get an extra leaf each side plus reset to whatever height you want, it will handle better and not be effected by a load in the back as much, if you pull them out yourself and drop them in to a suspension joint it should only cost you about 200-300.

lowering blocks are ok but reset is the ducks nuts.

ive got 2 wagons my eb has superlows and reset leaves and is pretty low handles good,my ef has super lows and 2 1/2" blocks but has had leaves reset for gas tank(before i got it) and i think its sits to high in the a**,but when full of petrol and gas and all the babies pram and s**t it sits ok,picks of both in my gallery, but i find no issues with blocks heaps cheaper and at the end of the day im guessing your only chasing looks,so id go with blocks
