no pressure is added to the springs... the shocks have a sort of airbag built into them which can be inflated or deflated to slightly raise or lower their height.

Wrong... Koni's have adjustable firmness... not adjustable height.

height is determined by the spring anyway.

Wrong again... It is true that the spring is the main determining factor in the height but the shock does still has a bit to do with it. Otherwise airbag shocks would never work!

not really. pump ups are for rear only and only really used in vehicles that tow a lot. they are not used to alter the height of the car until it is loaded up.

I think what he means by wind up springs is coilovers which you can adjust but has to be done manually.
